How to play Typing Speed Test
The rules
Type the passage exactly as shown — every character, including punctuation. The timer starts on your first keystroke and stops at your chosen duration (or when the passage completes). WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes; accuracy = correct ÷ typed. The red-highlighted characters are your error fingerprint — note which keys miss and drill them.
Getting a fair score
Sit comfortably, wrists floating, eyes on the passage — not the keyboard. The first test of a session runs slow; take two throwaway runs before counting anything. And use the same duration for tracking: 60-second scores run a bit lower than 30-second sprints and higher than 2-minute grinds.
What the score means
Under 30: build accuracy with the touch-typing guide on this site. 30–50: metronome drills raise this fastest. 50–70: burst practice and error-type analysis. 70+: consistency and specialized texts. Every result page on the test points to the right next method for your number.
